ISAC Prototype Demonstration at IEEE JC&S 2026

From January 13 to 15, WSL participated in the 6th IEEE International Symposium on Joint Communication & Sensing (JC&S) in Ponte di Legno, Italy. This marked the first time a South Korea research group was represented among the conference's live demonstration booths. At JC&S 2026, WSL researchers presented a live demonstration based on their accepted paper, "Demonstration of Joint Communication and Bistatic Sensing with 3D Angle-Doppler-Delay Processing." The demo featured a real-time integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) system in which moving objects dynamically alter the wireless channel. Radar-like heatmaps were displayed alongside communication signals, enabling real-time visualization of object motion in the environment. Clear changes in the heatmaps show how passive objects can be sensed and tracked in an ISAC system. This demonstration highlighted the practical feasibility of ISAC using a real-time prototype. By moving beyond simulations to live experiments, WSL showed how ISAC can operate in realistic environments, reinforcing its potential as a core technology for future wireless networks.
